Power Voltage Guide: 110V vs 220V
Travelers often confuse "Adapters" with "Converters." An adapter just changes the shape of the plug. A converter changes the electricity. If you mix this up, you will destroy your electronics.
The Voltage Split
- North America (US/Canada): 110-120 Volts.
- Rest of World (Europe/Asia): 220-240 Volts.
Check Your Label
Look at the fine print on your power brick. If it says "Input: 100-240V", you are safe! This is dual voltage (common for laptops and phones). You only need a plug adapter.
If it says "Input: 110V" only (common for hair dryers and cheap appliances), DO NOT plug it into a European wall. It will spark, smoke, and die instantly because the voltage is too high.
